If I must Die

If I must die
With my final verse
In hand

Then let it be
A seed
Of inspiration

To other minds
Of youthful vigor
Whom might read

Of my life
And energies

For if I be known
Another day

I wish my fertile mind
To nurture the desires
Of poems not yet sown

Yearning to germinate
From the ground
I once found

My body
Fed upon

By the years
And flowing tears

The fields
I once trod
My dead poets’

Lived once
Now sod

– The end.
